2. SCHEDULE - Productions will be scheduled during the six workshop sessions on Friday and
Saturday. Please note that there are specific times for each group to load-in, setup, perform and
strike. Groups MUST BE READY at the scheduled times or they will forfeit their performance
slot.
3. PERFORMANCE TITLE/PLAYWRIGHT - Directors must provide the title of their One-Act and the Playwright/Author to participate in One-Acts. Title and Playwright/Author must be provided to Kansas Thespians with registration.
4. CUTTINGS - Directors must secure written permission to present a cutting from a play from the publisher of the play. Proof of permission must be provided to the Kansas Thespians no later
than November 1
5. PERFORMANCE TIME – Maximum performance time is 45 minutes from opening curtain to
closing curtain. Your specific performance time is based on the running time you entered at
registration. Each performing group will be allowed a maximum of 10 minutes to set the stage
and 5 minutes to strike the stage. Groups that do not use the full allocated set and strike time
may not use the extra time as additional performance time.
6. SCENERY, PROPS AND COSTUMES – Scenery must be able to fit through a single door and be carried by a single person. Anything bigger will not be allowed. Props are those items that are carried onstage by actors. Costumes and makeup must be provided by the performing group. Due to the limited strike time, please limit the number of items you bring.
7. SOUND AND LIGHTS - A general stage wash will be provided with backstage control. A basic sound amplification system will be provided with backstage control. Performing groups will
need to provide their own audio playback devices which can be connected to the provided
sound system. The use of microphones is not permitted. No smoke, haze or pyro effects will be
allowed.
8. PRE-PERFORMANCE – Performing groups will not be allocated rehearsal time or space prior to the scheduled performance time. Performers and directors are not allowed on stage until called to the stage by the conference stage manager. There are two productions scheduled for each session (Red and Blue). Groups must report to the Ballroom at the scheduled load-in time.
9. LOAD-IN – Both performing groups for the session must report at the scheduled load-in time.
Both performing groups will have 15 minutes to move all scenery and props into the ballroom at
this time. The second (Blue) performing group will need to set their scenery and props offstage
left. The first (Red) performing group will need to set their scenery and props offstage right. At
the end of the load-in period, the second (Blue) performing group will need to leave the
backstage area and either sit in the house or wait in the hall outside the ballroom.
10. SETUP – The first (Red) performing group will have 10 minutes to setup on stage (including
sound and lights). The second (Blue) performing group MUST BE PREPARED to setup
immediately following the strike of the first show. There is no extra time during a session to “hunt” for missing groups.
11. STRIKE – Each performing group will be allotted 5 minutes to strike and load-out all scenery and props. Everything must be removed from the ballroom within this time period.
