Welcome to Kansas Thespians!

Kansas Thespians was established to support the Educational Theatre Association's student honorary, International Thespian Society. Kansas Thespians is a chapter  of the Educational Theatre Association. Our chapter provides support to Troupe Directors, Thespians, and Junior Thespians under the direction of our Director - Megan Upton-Tyner

Meet our new Chapter Director-
Megan Upton-Tyner

Megan Upton-Tyner (mtut) has been teaching theatre and directing for over two decades. She has taught at both the collegiate and high school levels, and is currently the Theatre instructor at Andover High School.  In 2023, she was recognized as the Kansas Thespians’ Theatre Teacher of the Year for Region 1. Megan has been the Advocacy Co-Coordinator for Kansas Thespians since 2021.

Kansas Thespians has been an integral part of Megan’s life story. It’s where she met her husband, was able to see her daughter elected as an STO in 2017 and see her son perform in the orchestra pit of a chapter select musical in 2022. She firmly believes that theatre is an essential part of a well-rounded education and is committed to acknowledging and empowering student voices. She is excited to continue her Kansas Thespians journey in the role of Chapter Director.
