Welcome High School Students


As a high school theatre student, there are many opportunities for you.   Become a Honor Thespian, attend Kansas Thespian Festival, Be a part of the student board, and International Thespian Festival.
 What is a Thespian?
The International Thespian Society is an honor society for theatre arts students.  It is run by the Educational Theatre Association.

What is Kansas Thespian Festival?
The Kansas Thespian Festival is a 3 day weekend in January that students participate in a number of activities, shows, and more.  Students must attend with their troupe director.

What is a state board member and STO?
Each school may bring 3 students to our August Meeting.   By going so you are automatically part of the student state board.  You will help with festival planning and running.  You also recieve a discount on the registration fee.   Students my also run for Student Thespian Officer (or STO) which runs the Kansas Festival and attends the International Thespian Festival.  Students must attend the Kick off meeting to receive discount for festival. Students who do not work at festival will be charged for discounted fees. 

What is International Thespian Festival?
The International Thespian Festival is a week long theatre festival that occurs in June.

Creative Costumes, Improv, Charades, Theatre Test
All Free!
Senior Auditions
Seniors can audition for over 30 colleges and each school can have two students compete for Thespian Scholarships.  Cost is $60.  Is separate from registration to festival.

Student Leadership & STO Information
​BE A LEADER! Work to help make Kansas Thespians better. 
Kansas Thespians Officer a few great ways to hone your leadership skills while also helping Kansas Thespians and the Festival.  Don't miss this opportunity to work with amazing leaders from across the state by joining the student state board.  Members of the SSB can also apply to be a part of the STO's.
Thespys
Compete in events like: Monologues, Duet Acting, Duet singing, Solo Musical, Group acting or singing, Tech design, stage management and more.  Earn Superior and qualify for ITF. $30 for each event!

Backstage Challenge (Tech Challenge)
Come show off your technical theatre skills by participating in our competitive Backstage challenge/Tech Challenge.  $15 per team
Honor Troupe
Qualify for a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Honor Troupe Award, just by doing what you are doing!  Free!
