Our history started with the inaugural year of the International Thespian Society in 1929.  Our state has the oldest troupe of the western half of the USA. Today we have over 80 troupes (and growing) that are very active in the state.
Each year our state holds a Thespian Festival in January with over 1700 participants.  The 2023 Festival will be our 50th year as a state chapter.
Kansas Thespians has many positive and noteworthy  historical aspects:
  • Both the Trick or Treat so Kids Can Eat and Honor Troupe that the International Thespian Society has expanded started with the Kansas Thespians.
  • Kansas had 2 International Thespian Officers (ITO's) in 2018-19 and in 2019-20 (both years one served as ITO Chair.
  • Kansas has had numerous performances showcased at the International Thespian Festival.  Check out our show history.
  • Kansas Thespians were a Gold Honor Chapter in 2017 and 2018, 2021, 2022
