Kanas Thespians was established to support the Educational Theatre Association'sstudent honorary, International Thespian Society. Kansas Thespians is a chapter of the Educational Theatre Association. Our chapter provides support to Troupe Directors, Thespians, and Junior Thespians.
EdTA's vision is that "Every student will have access to theatre taught by qualified educators as a vital part of a well-rounded education." EdTA's mission is "Shaping lives through theatre education."

Our history started with the inaugural year of the International Thespian Society in 1929. Our state has the oldest troupe of the western half of the USA. Today we have over 80 troupes (and growing) that are very active in the state.
Each year our state holds a Thespian Festival in January with over 1700 participants. The 2023 Festival will be our 50th year as a state chapter. Kansas Thespians has many positive and noteworthy historical aspects:
