Welcome to Kansas Thespians!

Kansas Thespians was established to support the Educational Theatre Association's student honorary, ​International Thespian Society. Kansas Thespians is a chapter  of the Educational Theatre Association. Our chapter provides support to Troupe Directors, Thespians, and Junior Thespians under the direction of our Director - Barb Hilt.

Meet our upcoming Chapter Director-
Megan Upton-Tyner


Megan Upton-Tyner will be stepping into the role of Chapter Director July 1.  She has been teaching theatre and directing for more than two decades. She has taught at both the collegiate and high school levels, and is currently the Theatre instructor at Andover High School. In 2023, she was recognized as the Kansas Thespians’ Theatre Teacher of the Year for Region 1. Her 23-24 staging of "Anastasia" received a Jester Award for Outstanding Overall Production, with 24-25's "Little Shop of Horrors" repeating as Outstanding Overall production, as well receiving a Jester for Outstanding Direction. Megan is the Advocacy Co-Coordinator and the Director-elect for Kansas Thespians. She firmly believes that theatre is an essential part of a well-rounded education and is committed to acknowledging and empowering student voices.

Important dates for Thespian Troupes:​
  • Aug 16 - Kick off Meeting- Andover High School (Andover, KS) 
  • Sept 1 (approximately) Registration Opens
  • Oct 1- Registration due for HS- late fees assessed after this date.  Fees due on receipt
  • Nov 1- HS Registration fees considered late and $250 fee added
  • Nov 1- Thespy information due  
  • Nov 1- One Act Royalty proof due
  • Nov 1- Audition information due in Aceptd
  • Nov 1- Registration due for colleges/guest artists/venders-late fees apply after this date
  • Dec 1- STO Application due​
  • March- Advocacy day at the festival
