Honor Troupe
Adjustments will be looked at for 2021 due to Covid19
This application needs to be printed out and placed at the front of the honor troupe portfolio / notebook.
Honor Book Purpose: Helping Thespian troupe assess and celebrate their theatre work.
Goal/mission statement: Shaping lives through theatre education
The honor book is not a competition with other troupes, it is a chance for your troupe to celebrate what your troupe has done for the past year.
GUIDELINES:
-The honor book is for the past calendar year, not the current festival year (i.e. the 2020 festival book is from Jan 1, 2019-Dec 31, 2019).
-Projects can be used for 2 different categories if it meets the criteria for both, but the project cannot be used for more than 2 categories. The student leadership category is not counted towards the two categories.
-The portfolio represents the impact your troupe is having in your school and community.
-Troupes must provide proof of completing each requirement.
-Thespian sponsors need to register for this event by October 1st.
-There is no additional fee to participate in Honor Troupe.
-If you feel you have done a project that is not listed in the category you feel it fits in, please choose other. If you choose other, please explain why it fits in the category you choose.
-Please remember that your lowest troupe you get on any one of the categories is the highest honor your troupe can receive for that year.
Portfolio
-This year’s honor book can be in either scrapbook form or in a digital form.
-If you decide to present a digital portfolios, you MUST bring your own source to present it on
-Please have 2 completed hard copies of the Honor Troupe application, typed, to give to the adjudicators when you present at the Thespian Festival.
-Please look through EVERYTHING as there have been changes from all years previous.
-This portfolio MAY NOT be used as part of a troupe’s lobby display
-Troupes must provide proof of completing each requirement.
-Student has 5 minutes to present to the judges.
Presentation:
-Practice ahead of time to get through the book in 5 MINUTES
-Each school can have 1 or 2 students in interview room (only 1 will present)
-Sign up for a time at the registration desk
-When it is your time go to your presentation table and quickly go through book explaining ONLY what is on your sheet.
-PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE before conference.

Pay EDTA Renewal Fees ( DO NOT need to show evidence for this, information will come from EDTA)
Have 1 State Board Member

Must have all these to earn an honor troupe: Honor Troupe Application, Portfolio/Notebook, and Presentation
- Thespian Troupes need to sign up for this event when they register for the Kansas Thespian Festival.
- Their is no fee to participate in the Honor Troupe evaluation process.
- This application needs to be printed out and placed at the front of the honor troupe portfolio.
- Each page in the portfolio should be about one requirement.
- The pages must include proof of completing the requirement.
- The portfolio/notebook needs to be presented in the order of the criteria listed above.
- If the book is not in correct order, the troupe will not receive the level for which they have applied.
- The presentation should not exceed 10 minutes. The interviewer in the room may ask questions for 5 minutes.
