WELCOME TO THE KANSAS THESPIANS

The purpose of Kansas Thespians is to advance and improve educational theatre in Kansas by teaching, educating and instructing individuals in the performing arts related subjects. Kansas Thespians also organizes events including Trick or Treat so Kids Can Eat (TOTS-EAT), the International Thespian Society’s annual nationwide community service initiative to collect food for the hungry. This community service project was started by Kansas Thespians.

KANSAS STATE CONFERENCE

The 2015 Kansas Thespian Conference will be held at Hyatt Regency Wichita and Century II Performing Arts and Convention Center, January 8-10, 2015.    

Any high school in the state of Kansas with an active Thespian troupe is eligible to attend. Click on the State Conference tab above for more information.

Subject: The 2014 Core Arts Standards.

The 2014 Core Arts Standards are nearly ready for release. The National Coalition for Core Arts Standards (NCCAS) is conducting a final review February 14-28, and has posted downloadable drafts of all five arts disciplines' standards at 

http://nccas.wikispaces.com. 

The theatre team is seeking additional input between now and the formal survey launch through a series of questions that will be posted daily on the Advocacy Community Page.

Here's the first question:  Do the theatre standards offer enough clarity, specificity, and measurability for use in your classroom?
